Practice tests are more difficult than the actual TOEFL test. I’m losing 1 mark here and there too, so I’m hoping for a perfect on the actual test.

    thank you for replying

  17. ouliogroove says:

The ibt TOEFL is scored on 120. That is 30 points for each section: Speaking/listening/reading/writing. I know that the cbt TOEFL is scored differently, but I am unaware of the level of difficulty that it involves, as I have only been teaching to prepare students for the ibt. So I am afraid I can’t be of any help here. Sorry.

  18. carloselbailador says:

is it easier to obtain the toefl with a score of 230 or more, or advanced with b grade? i would really appreciate any answers.

  19. ouliogroove says:

Yes! It is the TOEFL, but you are right about the British accent. It is not common, but not unheard of either. I’ve heard that they started to implement this accent a few years ago, and nowadays, it is possible to be faced with such accent in the listening test… But it is quite unlikely. The book I have used for these lectures have exaggerated the amount of British accent lectures, so it is not representative of the truth. Sorry about that.

  20. leoweber22 says:

no way… all these tests with a british accent? no way it’s the toeefl exam!!!!!!!!

  21. roojooroojoo says:

OMGd, I hope the actual test is as easy as this! I don’t have any problems at all reading, writing, understanding etc. english at all, however, I often allow my mind to wander.. not a good quality when you leave your mind on autopilot :P !

  22. skyfrank says:

omg~ since when they put british accent into TOEFL! damn! i do have that!

  23. Moojgoo12 says:

thank you for your advise. thank you

  24. ouliogroove says:

It is better than 25%… Now I am NOT suggesting that you gamble your way to a high TOEFL score, but I think that when left with fewer choices to select from, There is a greater chance of finding the right answer. So DON’T just “coin flip” between the two most logical choices. Evaluate those two choices and make a concious decicsion.

I am sorry if I can’t be of anymore help, but as I said above, developping your listening skills is difficult and requires practice, so I can only say Good Luck

  25. ouliogroove says:

By trap I mean that the choice in question will give you the impression of being a logical one, but the wording is done in such a way that it actually states the opposite of what you are lead to believe. That is why you really have to read the choices extra carefully over and over until you are certain you understand their meaning. So by recognizing the “trap” choice and the “unrelated one” you are left with two choices to select from. that is a 50% chance of success. It’s not full proof, but…
