Lesson 4a – The Passive – English Grammar

Topic: The Passive Voice. This is an introduction to the passive in two parts. We talk about what the passive is, how it’s formed, and why it’s used. Level: high intermediate to advanced.

  2. cmfqhg says:

Tank you for this lesson about the passive voice and transitive and intransitive verbs. I´m from Ecuador and I could understand this lesson

  3. MasterThief1324 says:

    0:39 – it’s very interesting almost like a dream.

Hi! I don’t mean to be anal with grammar but the phrase tagged at the end of that sentence: “almost like a dream” seems to ‘dangle’. I don’t know if it’s just me or it is a dangling modifier.

In my opinion it makes more sense had she started a new sentence and included a subject.

    PASSIVE:
Indians that are not mingled with…
    (BE + past participle)

    ACTIVE:
    Indians that mingle with…

The passive sounds odd here. I’d say:
Indians that do not mingle (or “interact”) with…
